Twilight and Shadow
This song features Renee Fleming. It is a
song of despair in the face of the growing Shadow of the East.
However, the song does turn light and cheery. One thing that
does cheer anyone up who listens to this is Fleming's voice.
The singers throughout the Lord of the Rings soundtrack do a
fantastic job of adding their voice to the music, but keeping
the spirit of the films in place. None of them try to put the
focus of the film on themselves.
This can be easily noticed while you are
watching the films. Never will you find yourself saying
"What singer is singing this song?" Rather, the
focus is on the movie which is where it should be. The singers
simply makes the movie come to life.
