The White Tree
The White Tree is the symbol of the city of
Minas Tirith and the symbol of the line of Elendil.
Unfortunately, the tree has whithered away and is dead. It
resides in the uppermost portion of Minas Tirith. Pippin
comments on how the tree is dead. It signifies the
nonexistance of a true King of Gondor.
Shore manages to paint the tree in a
respectful way, even though it is dead. Aragorn will be forced
to find a new tree to replace the dead one with at the end of
the story. (This isn't shown in the film)
