The Treason of Isengard
Gandalf tells Frodo that he is off to see
the leader of his order - a man both wise and powerful. He
assures Frodo that he will know what to do about the Ring.
Unfortunately, Saruman has been deceived by the Dark Lord and
wants the Ring for himself - but the Ring will only answer to
Sauron. Saruman uses the palantir to communicate with Sauron. When
Gandalf reaches Isengard, he talks for a while with Saruman,
not yet realizing his treachery. However, eventually Gandalf
understands his intent. Their brutal battle results in Gandalf
becoming a prisoner of Orthanc. This
track has a majestic tune when Gandalf is approaching Isengard,
and has strong following notes that alert the listener to
danger and deceit. The battle between Saruman and Gandalf
sets a good battle tone, and it is clear that the Gandalf lost
simply by the music. |
