The Bridge of Khazad Dum

This song displays the Fellowship fleeing Goblins throughout Moria. It shows them winding throughout the caverns seeking an escape. The Goblins are warded off by a nameless presence that buys the Fellowship time.

The song gets very loud and resounding when the Fellowship is stopped by a hole in the path that forces them to jump over.  All appears to be good except that when the Fellowship turns around they see that Gandalf has decided to take on the Balrog.  The rest of the Fellowship can do nothing but watch as Gandalf apparently defeats the Balrog, but is then pulled in after him. Frodo's cry at this occurrence sums of the feelings of everyone watching this very well.

This track ends with a very sad tone as the movie displays the Fellowship mourning for Gandalf. Aragorn takes command which is important - it shows his future role. Aragorn is forced to bring the company back together to intill some sort of purpose back in them again.
