The Black Rider
Beginning with a resounding note followed by
a lively segment, this track starts out in a joyous mode.
However, it does not last long and quickly turns to one of
flight and despair as the Black Riders approach. Frodo and
company and sent into a run of their lives as they seek to
outmanuever the Black Riders. Only narrowly do they escape
onto the river to head for the Brandywine Bridge and
eventually Bree. This song creates a perfect entrance for the
Black Riders' shocking entrance onto the screen. The terror
and mayhem they create is accurately portrayed by Shore
throughout the films and is unbeatable.
In the film, the beginning part of this
track is when Frodo and Sam bump into Merry and Pippin in
Farmer Maggot's crops. After they hide near the rode from a
Black Rider, they begin to be pursued by 5 of them. Finally,
they reach the raft and the river for momentary safety. |
