The Black Gate is Closed
This song returns us to Frodo and Sam's
adventure. We see them reach the Black Gate of Mordor with
Smeagol. But Smeagol warns them not to go in and to choose
another path, fearing that they will be caught. Frodo takes
his advice to go the other way, even though Sam never trusts
Smeagol.
This song marks out all of the adventure
Frodo and Sam have at this point. It shows the tenseness of
Frodo attempting to go to the Black Gate and Smeagol holding
him back - along with Sam's deep distrust of Gollum. This song
makes strong use of the string instruments to give it a
graceful demeanor.
